Problems began early on Sunday when it was discovered the route for the women's 20 kilometre race walk won by Peru's Kimberly Garcia was nearly three kilometres short. After hitting the pause button the United States gold medal machine was back in gear on Sunday adding seven to their total. The Americans opened the Games piling up 59 gold over the first five days but managed just two over the next three. The U.S. also won three of the six gold on offer at the canoe slalom while the other three went to Brazil. Brazil finished the day claiming the gold in women's handball beating their great rivals Argentina 30-18 and in women's basketball with a 50-40 win over Colombia.

Alleged slurs, threats and offensive impressionsNomura allegedly mocked Lizzo and her dancers with what the lawsuit described as a "stereotypical sassy Black woman imitation." After Daniels complained to Gugliotta, Lizzo's tour manager, she allegedly asked Daniels to surreptitiously record Nomura, according to the suit. Lizzo's response on the social media platform X comes two days after the dancers filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The lawsuit also claims that Davis was pressured to participate in a nude photo shoot to stay in a dance competition despite her discomfort. The lawsuit also alleges that Quigley harassed the dancers by subjecting them to her religious beliefs against their will. The plaintiffs also claimed that Quigley forced the topic of Davis' virginity into conversations and interviews. Davis and Williams were eventually dismissed while Rodriguez resigned over the behavior, the lawsuit said.

"I want to be the face of Ivorian chocolate," said Kouame, a rare female entrepreneur in a male-dominated industry. Ivory Coast is the world's top producer of cocoa beans, but the vast majority are exported then processed elsewhere, with Ivorians missing out on the added value. She expresses her patriotism through her elaborate packaging, with some chocolate bars shaped like a map of Ivory Coast and others wrapped in paper decorated with images of the country's beauty spots and cultural traditions. "I tasted the chocolate, it's pure, it's natural," she said, holding an elegant box wrapped in orange, white and green ribbons. "This box, with the national colours of Ivory Coast, it's wonderfully presented.

CARACAS, Dec 1 (Reuters) - After years of struggle, veteran bakeries in Venezuela's capital Caracas are cooking up a variety of delectables, in the latest sign that the country's slight economic boost is reviving some family-owned small businesses. Dollarization meant freedom from the troughs and peaks of Venezuela's local currency, extra dough for spending in some sectors, and greater ease for importing certain ingredients, like wheat flour. Processing and distribution of wheat flour was under state control for years and supplies were intermittent, leading to lower production, while Venezuelans saw bread rationed. Venezuela imports wheat flour for processing. Despite the county's economic improvement, low salaries remain a hurdle for bakeries looking to grow.
